Year 3

Welcome to Year 3’s class page!

In Year Three, we are very lucky indeed and have an excellent teaching team. The Teaching Assistant working in year 3 is Mrs Mallard.

Discovery (Topic)

Throughout the Spring term, pupils will be delving into the fascinating wonders of Ancient Egypt with our Discovery topic of ‘It’s a Wrap!’ Pupils will discover the wonders of Egypt, its magnificent ancient history and some of the many mysteries that have been unearthed within more recent years. Here at Lickhill, we believe in a creative curriculum, meaning that we believe that links can be made with our discovery topic within all academic areas (where possible). Not only does this engage pupils but it also makes their learning relevant.

Other News:

As normal, Year 3/4 PE will be held on a Monday afternoon. Therefore, all pupils will be required to have full Lickhill PE kit in school on that day. We would like to remind all pupils to bring in warmer clothing due to the bitterly cold winter weather.

Forest school sessions will commence this half term on a Wednesday afternoon (week commencing 09/01/17). All pupils will need appropriate forest school kit in school (remember the weather is getting colder now so children will need to wrap up warm. We also advise that pupils bring in waterproof clothing as we will go down to the Forest whatever the weather).

As children enter into KS2 (year 3), our children are encouraged to take on more responsibility, be confident, set themselves new challenges and be excellent role models for the younger children within the school to look up to.

Year 3, gives pupils the opportunity to continue to develop their transferable skills, such as; communication, independence and teamwork, whilst at the same time, building upon the vital foundations that are needed in order to prepare them for the challenges of Upper Key Stage 2.

At Lickhill, we believe that there are seven key Secrets of Success, which are at the forefront of all pupils’ activities. These are reflected in not only their learning attitudes but are also vital as they continue to develop and install valuable lifelong attributes.

Our Seven Secrets are:

- Be Strong

- Be Proud

- Be a Risk-taker

- Be Ambitious

- Be Focused

- Be a Team Player

- Be innovative

Our Class Colour

This year, our class colour is ‘Orange’. Over the summer holidays, the class has been working very hard to collect anything that could relate to and inspire our exploration of the colour and many shades of orange.

Over the first few weeks of term, we will be creating some beautiful 'orange' themed artwork in our sketchbooks and also creating some fab 'orange' displays for our classroom.

Watch this space Year 3!

We had lots of fun searching for autumn leaves with shades of orange!
Many thanks for your continued support!

Water, water!

This week the school were lucky enough to have a visit from Mr Paul Tingle from Severn Trent. He gave a very amusing assembly on the importance of saving water, which the children really enjoyed.
