World Book Day! A celebration!

“World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. Water, water!

This week the school were lucky enough to have a visit from Mr Paul Tingle from Severn Trent. He gave a very amusing assembly on the importance of saving water, which the children really enjoyed.

Golden reward

Children at two Stourport schools have been rewarded for consistent long term excellent behaviour and attitudes towards learning with some “golden trips” that reward their achievements in school.

Sports Day

Key Stage One Sports day went off with a bang!! We had fantastic weather and it was lovely to see so many friends and family here to support us.

Storyteller

On Monday 22nd May, we had a visit from a famous storyteller called John Harris. John held one hour workshops with every child in school form Pre-school all the way up to Year 6. He told us a range of stories from memory using nothing but his voice and his body for movement.

Sport and PE updates

Cross Country Championship 2016

Pupils did really well in the annual district Cross Country Championship on Friday 11th November. We are very proud of the effort that representing pupils put in. Thank you so much for all of your efforts.

KS2 Cross Country

Attention all eager long distance runners! 

As you are aware, the weekly KS2 Cross Country Club, held every Wednesday lunchtime, is in full swing. It has been lovely to see so many faces and pupils have really impressed both Mrs Sharman and I with their outstanding effort and drive to succeed.

Harvest Assembly

Children and parents enjoyed a harvest assembly to be remembered last week.   Each class prepared a song or poem to present to the rest of the school, including the Pre-School children who sang Dingle , Dangle Scarecrow; with actions.

Mary Arden’s House Y3+Y4

Years 3 and 4 have been studying Tudor life and took a trip to visit Mary Arden’s house in Stratford; the mother of William Shakespeare.  The children spent the day discovering what life was like on a typical Tudor farm.  Old breed farm animals, such as Cotswold sheep, geese, pigs, goats and horses could be seen as well as many of the crafts and skills of that era.

Y3 + Y4 Exploring Stourport

Our children are currently learning all about their local environment.  We walked into Stourport to start off our new topic looking at the locality.  The children did a photo identification mapping activity and we stopped for some sketching.  We had lunch at the Civic Centre and this also gave us a chance to see the stage for our performance of Little Red Riding Hood in a few weeks time.

Swimming Gala

On Saturday 17th March, twenty KS2 children from Lickhill Primary School took part in an inter-school swimming gala organized by Wyre Forest Swimming Club. The event took place at Stourport Sports Centre and the atmosphere was electric!

Skipathon

All of our children, from Pre-school to Year 6, have been busy collecting sponsership money over the last two weeks to help raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

Year 3 and 4 production

The Year 3 and 4 production of Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf was a great success. The children rose to the extra challenges of a proper stage, and despite only having a single run-through at the Civic Centre, both performances went without a hitch.

Jubilee Picnic

On Friday 1st June all the children, staff and parents from Lickhill Primary School, celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by wearing red, white and blue and by having a huge picnic on the field.
