Amazing fun at the zoo!

Year 1 and 2 visited Bristol Zoo as part of their Rainforest topic. We all had an absolutely amazing day – the children’s behaviour was exemplary!

The day was packed full with entertainment. WE saw:

  • Lions
  • Monkeys
  • Gorillas
  • Lemurs
  • Red pandas
  • Crocodiles
  • Spiders
  • Cockroaches
  • A shark
  • Pygmy hippos
  • Tapirs
  • Capybaras
  • Flamingos

….to name just a few!

We also had a rainforest talk with Dave. We went into a room which was decorated like a rainforest and even had rainforest sounds. We watched a couple of video clips, did a few quizzes, completed a range of activities and even held and stroked 3 different creatures that live in the Amazonian rainforest! We held a hissing cockroach, stick insect and a snake! The children were all so brave – some chose not to touch them but they still had a good look.

The writing that the children produced the next day was absolutely beautiful – we can’t wait for you to have a look at it at parents evening.

A great trip with gorgeous children that need to feel really proud of themselves. Well done Year 1 and 2!

Water, water!

This week the school were lucky enough to have a visit from Mr Paul Tingle from Severn Trent. He gave a very amusing assembly on the importance of saving water, which the children really enjoyed.
