Starting School this year

Our school day starts at 8.50am and finishes at 3.00pm for KS1, 3.10pm for KS2.

Reception children will come into school via the Early Years garden. A member of the Early Years Team will welcome them into the classroom at 8.50am.

If your child is late for school, please bring him/her to the main entrance by the office.

Snack Time is at 10.30am. Fruit is provided by the school for a healthy snack. We have enclosed a Cool Milk application form. Please fill this in, or go online at to apply for milk for your child. Milk is free for your child until their 5th birthday. If your child would prefer, water is available at snack time. We encourage all children to have a water bottle in school. These are available to purchase from the school office at £3 each.

Reception children start their lunch at 11.45am, slightly earlier than the rest of the school. This gives the Early Years Team chance to get the Reception children settled and to develop & encourage positive social interactions & table manners.

All children from Reception up to Year 2 are entitled to a free hot meal under the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme. If you would like your child to have a hot dinner, these can be ordered using the form on the back of the newsletter which is sent home each week.

Our hot meals are prepared offsite so must be ordered in advance. We ask that your order is sent into school by Wednesday so food can be ordered for the following week. If you wish, you may send a healthy packed lunch for your child. You are welcome to alternate between hot meals and packed lunches as you wish, provided that any hot meals are ordered in advance.

The school day finishes at 3pm. Please come into the Early Years garden to collect your child. Please note that children are taught until 3pm, and it may take a couple of minutes for children to collect their belongings and make their way to you.

Please let the school know as early as possible if someone different is collecting your child. Please ensure that there is a note in your child’s communication book. They will need to bring ID with them which will be checked by the Early Years Team.

Water, water!

This week the school were lucky enough to have a visit from Mr Paul Tingle from Severn Trent. He gave a very amusing assembly on the importance of saving water, which the children really enjoyed.
