Year 6 Curriculum
HOME SCHOOLING DURING SELF-ISOLATION
I will put up links here to the work we have been doing in class so that you can support your child while they are absent from school. Please also check the homework page, which will continue to give suggested pages from the homework books.
In English, we are writing a diary based on the book Oranges in No Man's Land, which is our class reader. Everybody has heard enough of this to be able to do a decent diary - which they can handwrite or type, as they prefer. You might like to show them this video, which has stills from the war in Lebanon which is the setting of the book. They can then use these images to support their writing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTUMfIqirNg I am expecting about 3 diary entries (ie entries written on 3 different days in the story) and about a page and a half of writing from the children. There is a model of the diary below, to give you an idea of the sort of writing I am looking for.
This week we are studying statistics.
