Year 3 - Young Arboriculturists

Year 3 were back in the forest this afternoon for their first Forest School session of the year. 

After reminding ourselves of the rules for a safe and fun Forest School, children worked independently from the adults to identify trees. 

It was amazing to watch and listen into conversations about leaf size, shape and feel; twig colour and texture and even seed types. The children really are experts in the forest.

We collected leaves to press dry and display on our class board.

Of course, trees aren’t just for studying, they also make fantastic dens, swings and climbing frames - there was plenty of time for this too.
