  • Year 5 Remembrance - Worcester Cathedral

Fri 12 Nov 2021 Mrs McLeod

As the second part of our trip to Worcester,  we walked to the cathedral.  We had a fascinating tour from knowledgeable guides, and found out lots of the history of this 1000-year-old building and its religious significance.

  • Year 5 Remembrance History trip - The Hive

Fri 12 Nov 2021 Mrs McLeod

It was so lovely to be out and about with the children.  In the morning,  we went to The Hive in Worcester by coach.  Here we took part in a 'book blitz', looking at 30 books about war in 30 minutes, and judging which we wanted to read most.  Then we had a tour, and finished with creating some displays of books to entice others to read them.  The children did a fabulous job, showing great craft skills and knowledge about the meaning of remembrance.

  • Year 5 geography...geocaching!

Fri 12 Nov 2021 Mrs McLeod

Year 5 are learning about longitude, latitude and map references in geography. We started to develop these skills by going geocaching in our forest school session, with great success!

  • Year 4 STEM week activities.

    Fri 12 Nov 2021

During Stem week Year 4 created their own torches using tin foil, a cell battery, some card and an LED bulb. It was much more tricky than they thought at first, but they persevered and helped each other to succeed. Another activity was to investigate whether it was possible to create a battery using a lemon and a few other items! Have a look at the photos to see our experiment in action.

  • STEM week

Sat 06 Nov 2021 Mrs McLeod

What a triumphant end to STEM week! The children prepared and cooked three courses and overall were very positive about their learning and the results.  We had: lentil and butternut squash soup 🍲 (the least popular, but I LOVED it!); vegan spaghetti 🍝 bolognese (enjoyed by the vast majority); pumpkin muffins (oh my, so delish 😋).

These were all prepared from seasonal UK produce, with only one processed ingredient, thus having a low carbon footprint.

    The children were FABULOUS 👌 👏 👍.

  • Cross country competition

Sat 06 Nov 2021 Mrs McLeod

Congratulations to all our children who competed in the cross country race, and in particular to our three champions who did us proud in the regional event yesterday. 😀

  • What a fabulous day...Part 2

Thu 04 Nov 2021 Mrs McLeod

This afternoon,  in forest school, we started to think about map skills.  In  groups, we created maps of forest school using materials found in the woods.  We had to think about the main landmarks, and about their relative sizes and distances between them.  Good job Year 5!

  • What fabulous day..Part 1

Thu 04 Nov 2021 Mrs McLeod

This morning we have been doing our DT (design & technology) project. We are working towards creating a meal which uses local seasonal produce so that it has a small carbon footprint.   We had a tasting session today and will be ready to cook tomorrow 😋 😜
