  • Classification activity

Fri 06 Sep 2019 Mrs McLeod
Thanks to Rob's dad, Year 6 children had the opportunity today to look carefully at a number of arachnid, scorpion and insect specimens (all safely set in resin!). We used our new knowledge to sort these into groups using their characteristics. The children did a great job!
  • Sunsets to Spray Tans - Year 3 have been mixing the colour orange.

    Fri 06 Sep 2019 Mr Leavesley-Matthews

What a fabulous morning of colour! Today, Year 3 discussed the colour wheel and how mixing primary colours red and yellow will create orange.

In school we have 6 tints and shades of red and yellow that can be mixed to create any number of different oranges. Children carefully recorded their colour recipes and produced exciting ranges of orange in their sketch books.

We discussed how colour mixing is a very skilled job in varied industries from fashion to car design and challenged ourselves to come up with imaginative names for each of our creations.

To do well children had to share and be respectful of each others work, follow instructions for mixing powder paints and use their creative brains to name colours. We also became art critics and after observing each others work gave constructive positive feedback to the class.

  • Bonjour! Guten Tag! Buenos Dias!

    Fri 06 Sep 2019 Mr Leavesley-Matthews

Year 3 have had a wonderful start back to school. It has been so much fun sharing our holiday stories and starting new topics.

To start everyday the right way, Year 3 have been discussing greetings. We made a list of our favourite ways to say 'Good morning!' and took photos for the classroom door.

Every morning Mr Leavesley-Matthews, Mrs Mallard or our Star of the Week will greet every member of the class in their chosen way. Hugs to fist-bumps, we all start the day feeling special.

  • Sharing our Sensational Summer Scrapbooks!

Fri 06 Sep 2019 Mrs Murrells

To be honest... We're a little bit blown away! The effort, thought and fun that has gone into your Summer homework is incredible. Although we are a little bit anxious to tell Mrs Lloyd that the homework books we thought would last a year have, in some cases, already be completely filled up!!!

We can't thank parents/family/carers enough for all the effort you put into their homework. Seeing their pride when they share their scrapbooks with their friends is absolutely heartwarming.

  • First day in Year 6!

Wed 04 Sep 2019 Mrs McLeod
It has been a marvellous day! Lots of discussion about what we want our classroom culture to be; some great maths learning about place value (we can now read some VERY big numbers!); monitors are sorted and some outdoor science to finish off a wonderful day. Look what we found in forest school!
