  • Julia Donaldson Topic So far...

    Mon 20 Jan 2020 A.Williams
We have been busy since coming back in January and are really enjoying our new topic.  Julia Donaldson has written so many amazing books, so far we have covered Room on the Broom and Stick Man.  We have learnt new vocabulary from the books and have written our own spells! Here's a few pictures for you to see what we have been up to...
  • Skipping

Thu 16 Jan 2020 Mrs Murrells
This week we had our second session of skipping with Adam from Jump Rope. Amazingly we can already see progress from week one! We are learning all sorts of skills and different ways to skip. Some children even learnt what a stitch is this week, they are certainly being worked hard whilst having lots of fun!
  • Lickhill's New Arrivals

Tue 14 Jan 2020 Rob Williams

We are very fortunate to have been donated two Indian Star Tortoises to add to our Lickhill animal family. Marcus Langford, who is the countries leading expert in captive breeding of the breed has kindly given us two very sweet little tortoises.

As you have all shone before in choosing names for our other animals, we are again opening it up for you and your children to pick names for us. As they are only dinky at the moment sexing them is impossible so gender neutral names would probably be best.

Please check on ParentPay to enter the competition 50p per entry. Please be sure to put your suggested name in the information box.

The competition will close next Friday 24/01/2020.

  • I'm running a marathon, and I need your help.

    Thu 09 Jan 2020 Mr Leavesley-Matthews

Hello and Happy New Year to you all!

Last year, I let Year 3 in on my goal to run a marathon in 2020. They thought it was a great idea and a fantastic way to raise money for PTA, so I applied to enter the Brighton Marathon... and lucky me... I got in!

Suddenly, the reality of 26 miles has started to set in! Running around Bewdley, Stourport and Kidderminster for hours on end has never been my idea of a fun way to spend a Sunday morning, but the goal is set and I am determined to see it through.

To make every training run and mile of the marathon count, Lickhill families can sponsor me through Parent Pay. The money goes straight to the PTA and will be used to help develop our school playground. It is awesome to think that each run, no matter how dark, wet or frosty, is helping to pay for exciting new play equipment, landscaping and fun playground painting.

Why Brighton ? I'm originally from South East London, and my parents and Sister live between the South coast and Kent. So, whilst I will be far away from my home here in the Wyre Forest, on the day of the marathon I will have the support of my family in Brighton. However, I will be sure keep the children up to date on how training is going over the coming weeks and will send videos back to school of the big day.

For more information about this marathon, children can visit the Brighton Marathon Weekend website, and I will post links of how to track my run closer to the event. In the meantime, If you see me running with my husband (who is also raising money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Birmingham), please give us a wave for encouragement.

    More to come soon,

    Mr Leavesley-Matthews
