Year 5 Science Enquiry - Why does the Sun Seem to "Move" Across our Sky?

Year 5 have had fun investigating why our Sun appears to move across our sky and how this affects our shadows throughout the day.

First we measured our shadows in the morning and then went out again in the afternoon to observe and discuss the changes.  We marked these out with chalk in teams.

The children were fantastic at applying their Scientific knowledge about Earth and Space to explain why this change in our shadow happens! They could even predict what their shadow may have looked like like a little later on in the evening!

I wonder if your child can explain to you why our shadows move throughout the day, how shadows are created and why we have seasons!
