  • Word Aware Madness!!

    Sat 20 Apr 2019

The whole school came to school dressed as a word today to improve our vocabulary awareness. We were blown away by the effort that was made by all. Some of the best vocabulary chosen included:

    • loquacious by Scarlett
    • Hazard by Jamie
    • Sprinkles by Maisie
    • Opulent by Elissa
    • Lightheaded by Daisy
    • Extinct
    • Paleontologist

Even the staff got involved with flamboyant, effervescent, discombobulated and contagious! We had an assembly where we shared all of our costumes, new vocabulary and meanings.

  • Farewell Mrs Davies!

    Fri 12 Apr 2019

The whole school came dressed in pink today in honor of a lady who transformed Lickhill into the successful school it is today: Mrs Davies. The day she arrived, 10 years ago, she was dressed head to toe in bright pink and since then we have always associated that colour with her. In fact, one of our Year 6 children, Abi, dressed in that very outfit for her leaving assembly.

We wished Mrs Davies the best of luck in her new school in Cambridge and honoured her with our own version of Lily the Pink (Helen the Pink - the saviour of Lickhill Primary School). Both tears and laughter were shared as we reminisced and bid her farewell. Under her leadership and vision, Lickhill transformed from a school in desperate need of improvement to the wonderful school we share today. You have left footprints in our hearts Mrs Davies - it's only fair that we now share your gift with a school currently in greater need than us. Keep in touch!

  • Year 1 and 2 Sealife and Legoland Trip

    Wed 10 Apr 2019

Year 1 and 2 had a whale of a time visiting the Sealife Centre where we saw a whole host of sea creatures to build our knowledge for our Under the Sea topic including stingrays, big eye fish, sea horses and penguins.

We also squeezed in a cheeky visit to the Legoland Discovery Centre just for fun! We were greeted by a giant Lego giraffe before spending some time building creations and testing them on huge ramps. As well as this, we explored Mini Land where there were Lego models of Warwick Castle, Birmingham Library and Birmingham City Football Club to name a few.

We had such a great day, learnt so much and showed Birmingham just how wonfderful and respectful our children are!

  • Word Day... what happened in Year 4?

    Wed 03 Apr 2019

Word Day in Year 4 was great fun! Children made a fantastic effort to think of some really interesting words to expand our vocabulary. Conversation amongst children and the adults was a joy to listen to. Our classroom was literally 'buzzing' all through the day. Thank you to everyone who made such an effort. Can you guess some of the words by looking at the costume?
