  • School Council Recycling Boxes

    Wed 29 May 2019
New recycling boxes have arrived in school. School council raised the money earlier in the year with a very successful cake sale. Thank you to parents and children for the fantastic support.
  • Year 6 Active Maths!

Fri 24 May 2019 Mrs McLeod
We all enjoyed some time outside learning about Pascal's triangle and refreshing our understanding of algebra.
  • Reading

Fri 24 May 2019 Mrs Murrells
Sometimes it's nice to just sit under a tree and have a quiet few minutes with a good book.
  • Walk the Plank! Year 1, 2 and 5 experience pirate life!

    Wed 22 May 2019
As part of their pirate day, Year 1 and 2 all got the opportunity to walk the plank just like a real pirate. As a thank you for setting up, running and tidying up our pirate activities, Year 5 helpers also got a chance to walk the plank. The best pirate joke came from Year 1. Check out the photos below to see who won the chance to push Mrs Lloyd off the plank!
  • Y6 Science explanations

Tue 21 May 2019 Mrs McLeod
Year 6 have worked hard on these reports. We have learnt about the circulatory system and also acquired some new techniques for engaging and signposting readers.  In addition, we have learnt about how colour, layout, diagrams and pictures can enhance the reading experience. We thoroughly enjoyed showing them off to Mrs Lloyd and to Year 5 this morning.
  • Post-SATS chillaxing!

Fri 17 May 2019 Mrs McLeod
It was lovely to celebrate the end of a busy week of testing.  The children all did themselves proud and showed great focus and resilience. We had a day off with chill time, which included colouring, a paper fight, a trip to the park and a Nerf war!
  • Sea Creature Junk Creations!

Fri 17 May 2019 Mrs Murrells

Year 2 have been focusing on re-using and recycling and what better way to do that than with some junk modelling!

The children picked their sea creature, planned what materials we would need and how we were going to make it. Our Year 5 buddies came to see what we were doing too.

We saw creativity, resourcefulness, co-operation and brilliant team work. It was just gorgeous!

  • Observational Drawing

    Thu 16 May 2019
Year 4 made some well observed sketches of the school grounds this week. The bright, warm conditions were just right for the children to sit and draw.
  • Year 3 - Ready for Summer with Golden Turmeric Tie -Dye T-shirts

    Wed 15 May 2019 Mr Leavesley-Matthews

Well last week's Forest School was a bit of a wash out, no fires to heat the water to make our dye... But that didn't stop Year 3.

In the classroom, we prepared two big pots, one of salt water and one to make our all natural turmeric dye.

We started by creating our designs, wrapping white cotton fabrics in string and elastic bands. The fabric then had to be soaked in a hot salt water solution to help the colour stick. Using pipettes we created our designs with the bright yellow dye - aprons on! We had to wait overnight for the results to let the colour really settle. The big reveal was very exciting, each t-shirt and square of fabric was unique.

The children came up with some fantastic adjectives to describe the colour and smell of the fresh and dried spice and wrote great recounts of what they did.

Finally the weather has broken, and tomorrow children will be repeating the process themselves on an open fire in Forest School using beetroot and red cabbage to create their dye. Photos to come.

  • Aspiration Day!

    Tue 14 May 2019 Reception

The children were invited to come to school dressed in the job of their choice.  We believe at Lickhill that children should gain knowledge about why we are learning certain things and what that will help them do in the future!

Our children have strong aspirations and goals in order to drive them to do their best!

Look what we came to school as…

(Thank you to the families that helped the children to organise their costumes!)
